PHUKET, Thailand – A 35-year-old American man has been found dead on a bed in his Patong hotel room, with police saying the cause of death is still being investigated.

Officers were called at 2pm on 4 October after the body was discovered at a hotel on Rat Uthit 200 Pi Road in Kathu district. Lieutenant Sakwanat Damchaom of Patong Police Station alerted station chief Police Colonel Korkrit Khankhruea before heading to the scene.

The deceased was identified as a US national, found lying shirtless in shorts on the bed. There were no signs of a search or disturbance, and no one else was in the room. He had checked in alone and was due to check out the day he was found.

Investigators and a duty doctor examined the body and documented the scene with a site report, location plan and photographs, with an initial entry made in the daily record as the case proceeds. Rescue workers from Kusoldharm Phuket’s Patong unit moved the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy, and authorities have contacted the US Embassy to help relatives arrange the return of his body. No cause of death has been announced, and further investigations are continuing.
