CHONBURI, Thailand – Rescue teams are still searching for a foreign man who was swept into a drainage canal in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, during heavy rain early on 24 September 2026.

The man was walking through flood water with two other foreign nationals near Soi Map Yai Lia 45 on Soi Noen Plub Wan at about 5am when the fast-moving current knocked all three off their feet. Two managed to escape the water, but the third was carried away into the canal and has not been seen since.

Authorities have not yet confirmed his identity or nationality, though local witnesses believed all three men were Korean. Rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Foundation are combing the canal and downstream areas where the missing man may have been carried, checking points along the drainage route as the operation continues.

CCTV footage reportedly showed the two other men leaving the scene afterwards without speaking to officials. Rescue workers said they will keep following the waterway until the missing man is found.
