Thailand will begin stricter enforcement of its motorcycle helmet law on June 1 as part of a national road safety campaign led by the Royal Thai Police. Riders and passengers who fail to wear helmets will be fined up to 2,000 baht. Drivers carrying unhelmeted passengers will face a doubled penalty.

The enforcement, part of the “Safe Roads Project,” directs Provincial and Traffic Police Divisions to target roads with frequent accidents or violations, including areas near schools. These zones will see intensified checks to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

Under Section 122 of the Land Traffic Act, helmet use is mandatory for both drivers and passengers. The updated campaign prioritizes consistent application of the law to help curb injuries and fatalities.
