Pattaya Authorities Address Beach Misconduct and Arrest Overstaying Ugandan Woman

Pattaya, Thailand – February 8th, 2025 – A recent viral video showing about a hundred people occupying Pattaya Beach, drinking alcohol, and leaving behind piles of trash sparked widespread public outrage. Initially, the group was mistakenly identified as Indian tourists, but a late-night inspection by authorities revealed a different reality.

Four Alleged Ugandan and Tanzanian Prostitutes Arrested in Phuket

On February 8th, a joint operation involving Pattaya police, immigration officers, and representatives from the local Indian community was conducted to address the situation. The investigation found that the individuals were primarily migrant workers, not Indian tourists, who had gathered at the beach after work to drink. Authorities urged the group to maintain cleanliness and avoid overcrowding the beachfront, emphasizing the importance of preserving the area for both locals and tourists.

During the inspection, officers encountered a 39-year-old Ugandan woman who was acting suspiciously. When approached for identification, she reportedly attempted to flee but suddenly collapsed into convulsions on the sand. Medical personnel were called to the scene to assist her, but after an examination, they found no apparent medical issues.

A subsequent passport check revealed that the woman had overstayed her visa by 603 days, with her visa having expired in 2023. She was immediately taken into custody by immigration officials for further legal action and deportation proceedings.

The incident has highlighted ongoing concerns about overcrowding and improper behavior at Pattaya Beach, a popular tourist destination. Authorities have reiterated the importance of adhering to local laws and regulations, including visa requirements and public cleanliness standards. They also emphasized the need for better communication and cooperation between local communities and migrant workers to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The Ugandan woman’s case serves as a reminder of the strict enforcement of immigration laws in Thailand, particularly regarding visa overstays. Meanwhile, the Pattaya community continues to work toward balancing the needs of tourists, locals, and migrant workers while maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of its iconic beachfront.
