Nakhon Sawan a farming province in central Thailand has been hit with severe drought this year. The local water sources have all but dried up and farmers have resorted to pumping groundwater to irrigate fields. The rainy season seems to be a long time in coming this year.
The technology called Rail Canal is gaining ground as a plausible alternative in the south of Thailand to connect the Pacific and the Indian oceans via a dry canal by putting ships on a dry rail to cross the land bridge. The proposal is coming from South Korea, some critics fear this plan comes in ten years too late.
