Thai Airways Flight Returns to Bangkok Due to Cracked Windshield

Thai Airways has issued a statement explaining the incident involving flight TG401, which was forced to return to Suvarnabhumi Airport on Sunday, February 16th. The Bangkok-Singapore flight, scheduled to depart at 7:00 PM, was diverted mid-flight after the pilot detected a crack in the outermost layer of the cockpit’s three-layered windshield.

The unexpected return was highlighted in a social media post on the ‘Big Grean’ page, where passengers expressed confusion as the aircraft, abruptly turned back shortly after takeoff. Thai Airways confirmed that the decision was made in strict adherence to safety regulations, prioritizing passenger safety above all else.

The airline promptly arranged a replacement aircraft, and the rescheduled flight, TG401D, departed Bangkok at 9:00 AM on Monday, arriving in Singapore at 12:25 PM local time. The affected aircraft, an Airbus A330-300, is part of Thai Airways’ fleet for the Singapore route.

Thai Airways reiterated that passenger safety is their utmost priority and apologized for any inconvenience caused. This incident underscores the airline’s commitment to maintaining strict safety standards.
