A devastating fire broke out in Phuket Town on Monday afternoon, leaving at least seven houses heavily damaged and forcing residents to evacuate. The fire, which caused panic in the community, required a coordinated response from firefighters and local authorities to bring it under control.
The fire started around 4:30 AM in a densely populated residential area Poon Pon Road in Talad Yai, Phuket Town. At least seven houses were severely damaged, with several others sustaining minor fire and smoke damage.
Firefighters from various fire stations arrived quickly, deploying 10 fire engines and water pumps to control the fire, which took several hours to bring under control.
The residents of the area were evacuated and no fatalities were reported, although one person suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.
Residents lost valuable belongings, including furniture, electronics, and personal documents, with damages estimated at one million baht.

Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit in one of the houses. Forensic experts are examining the site to confirm the exact cause and to rule out foul play.
Major Forest Fire Outside of Pattaya Fully Contained, Leaving Significant Damage
The Phuket Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office is coordinating with local police and fire departments to assist affected residents and investigate safety concerns.
