On January 21, 2025, at approximately 8:00 AM, assailants fired two M79 grenades at the Kapho District Police Station in Pattani province, southern Thailand. One grenade damaged the roof of a police residence, breaking windows in nearby homes, while the second caused no apparent damage. No injuries were reported.

Police Colonel Prayong Khotsakha, Deputy Commander of Pattani Provincial Police, led the investigation, instructing officers to collect evidence and review CCTV footage. Authorities suspect insurgents launched the grenades from a forested area opposite the station before fleeing.

In a related incident, a roadside explosion occurred near a rubber factory in Plong Hoi sub-district, also in Kapho district, causing no injuries. These attacks are believed to be attempts by insurgents to incite panic in the region.
Pattani is among several provinces in Thailand’s deep south experiencing a long-running insurgency. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties over the years, with government data indicating thousands of deaths since 2004.
