Lim had recently arrived in Bangkok from Siem Reap, Cambodia, accompanied by his wife and uncle. The assailant, reportedly a motorcycle taxi driver and former marine, approached Lim near the temple and shot him before fleeing the scene on a motorbike.
Thai authorities identified the suspect as Ekkalak Pheanoi, a 41-year-old Thai national with a criminal record. An arrest warrant was issued, and following a manhunt, Ekkalak was detained by Cambodian police in Battambang province, local media reported.

Today, Thai police released a photo of a second suspect in the murder, apparently of Cambodian nationality.
Preliminary investigations suggest the possibility of a contracted hit; however, the exact motive remains under investigation. Thai police are coordinating with Cambodian authorities to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the assassination.
