Flooding in Thailand’s southern provinces, triggered by persistent heavy rains since December 14, has begun to ease in some areas, while others remain inundated.
Train service disruption in Nakhon Si Thammarat, airport remains open
Bureau of Water Management and Hydrology Director Thanet Somboon reported that water levels in Chumphon and Surat Thani provinces are receding. However, Nakhon Si Thammarat continues to face severe and widespread flooding.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to manage the situation, particularly during low tide, when floodwaters can be quickly pumped out of urban areas. Local and provincial agencies are coordinating to drain water from affected communities. With more rainfall expected between December 17 and 18, officials remain vigilant to minimize further impact.
