Authorities in Samui Island have resumed their search for a Russian tourist who was swept into the sea by high waves on Friday. The woman, visiting Bo Phut Beach, was carried away by a wave while resting at a popular viewpoint despite warning signs cautioning against a storm surge with waves reaching up to four meters.
The woman had arrived at the viewpoint in a car and decided to stop for a rest. Despite visible storm surge warnings, a massive wave overtook the viewpoint and swept the Russian woman into the sea.
