Wat Traimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha) is a fascinating Buddhist temple in Bangkok, home to the world’s largest solid gold Buddha statue called Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon, it’s 3 meters tall and weighs approximately 5 ½ tons. This temple is located in Trimit Road, Talat Noi, Samphanthawong district of Bangkok (Chinatown) and very close to the Hualampong railway station.

Wat Traimit, the temple of the Golden Buddha worth close to 3.5 million dollars, has many histories to share. Among the facts, one of the interesting ones was that this temple was cast in parts in India and assembled at this site and it was completely plastered to prevent it from being stolen. The Buddha is represented in the traditional pose of Bhumisparsha mudra.

On the roof of the temple there are various fortune teller machines. Outside temple there is a giant red Royal Jubilee Gate or “Chalerm Phra Kiat” in Thai, built in 1999 to symbolize the prosperity of Thai and Chinese cultures under His Majesty the King.
