Wat Bowonniwet Vihara Rajavaravihara, Bangkok

Wat Bowonniwet Vihara Rajavaravihara (วัดบวรนิเวศวิหารราชวรวิหาร) or Wat Bowon Niwet Wihan Ratchaworawihan, is home of the Thammayut Nikaya school of Thai Theravada Buddhism and a beautiful Buddha, the Phra Puttha Chinasi (พระพุทธชินสีห์) shaped in 1357. This major Buddhist temple is situated in Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok, Thailand.

A royal temple

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and other royal members served their monkhood in this temple, his son Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn (สมเด็จพระบรมโอรสาธิราช เจ้าฟ้ามหาวชิราลงกรณฯ สยามมกุฎราชกุมาร) was ordained at Wat Bavorn Niwet.

The golden chedi of Wat Bowonniwet Vihara carries the relics and ashes of various Thai royals and there is a Statue of King Chulalongkorn Rama IV.
