Chitralada Palace (Chitralada Royal Villa) and Dusit Palace, Bangkok

Chitralada Palace also called Chitralada Royal Villa (พระตำหนักจิตรลดารโหฐาน) is the residence of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and HM Queen Sirikit in Bangkok.

Built in 1913, the residence is surrounded by a moat, and with a total area of 4 square kilometers, is part of the Dusit Palace. The Chitralada Royal Villa is home of the exclusive contain the Chitralada School (โรงเรียนจิตรลดา).

The royal residence

The Dusit Palace complex (พระราชวังดุสิต) is not just a palace but a compound of 13 different royal residences. Among them, The Vimanmek Mansion, built in 1900, is entirely made of teak wood; The Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, built in 1908; The Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall which was built in 1904, The Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall and Chitralada Royal Villa.

Other minor edifices on the compound are: Suan Si Ruedu Royal Villa, Suan Hong Royal Villa, Suan Kularb Mansion, Paruskawan Mansion, Suan Nok Mai Royal Villa, Suan Bua Royal Villa, Her Royal Highness Princess Bussabun Bua-Phan Residential Hall, HRH Princess Arun-Wadi Residential Hall, Her Royal Highness Princess Puang Soi Sa-ang Residential Hall, HRH Princess Orathai Thep Kanya Residential Hall, Krom Luang Vorased Thasuda Residential Hall, Tamnak Suan Farang Kangsai Residential Hall, Tamnka Suan Phudtan Residential Hall and Tamnak Hor Residential Hall.
