Thailand has earned $38.5 million in the first four months of 2021 from film productions by international companies in the country, despite the complicated COVID-19 development.
Thailand’s Department of Tourism estimates that by the end of this year, total revenue from international film shoots would amount to nearly $100 million. It also urged the government to pay greater attention to this source of revenue.
As Thailand relaxed COVID pandemic prevention measures, 31 international production crews arrived in the nation in the January-April period, mainly from China, India, the United Kingdom, the United States and South Korea.
The Tourism Department is aiming to generate 3 billion baht from international film crews this year, targeting projects with an investment of over 100 million baht in Thailand, after the country saw foreign tourism revenue plunge 82.63% last year https://t.co/zHqpdPONoA #Thailand
