Andrii Beshta, Ukrainian ambassador to Thailand, was found dead on Sunday on the island of Koh Lipe, in southern Thailand, where he was on vacation with his son, police said. The cause of death is not yet known, although a preliminary autopsy at Satun Hospital “concluded he died from a heart attack”, The Bangkok Post reported.
Thai police said Sunday that he was found dead early Saturday morning in his room in a hotel on Koh Lipe, an island off the coast and popular with tourists for its crystal clear waters and white sand. The ambassador’s son said his father went to bed not too late, but woke up in the early hours of the morning, vomiting before collapsing.

“Preliminary investigation has shown no signs of attack or violence,” said police deputy spokesman Kissana Phathanacharoen.
A career diplomat, Andrii Beshta, 44, was appointed in 2016 Ukrainian ambassador to Thailand.
Beshta had spent several years of his career in Thailand, where he arrived in 2007 as an advisor to the diplomatic mission in Bangkok, according to his embassy’s website.
