Swedish man denies sexual assault charges: it was like a “honeymoon”

A 34-year-old Swedish citizen have been charged by a Oslo District Court with having sexually abused a Thai girl since she was 13 years old. He is also accused of being in possession of abusive images of children. The 34-year-old denies the charges saying that he and the 13-year-old girl ‘were in love’.

According to the indictment, the Swedish man met the girl on the resort island of Koh Samui in 2008. She came from a poor city in Northern Thailand, and had just arrived on the island with her mother to work as a prostitute and dancer.

He paid around 400 baht to the bar to take her to the hotel and after having made a deal with the bar, the man could take the girl on a trip to other holiday destinations in Thailand the following days.

The Defendant described the journey almost as a “honeymoon” and said he was very in love with the young girl.

During this journey, they had sexual intercourse several times, and the girl became pregnant. Even before the man left the country, he knew about the pregnancy.

DNA tests have since shown that the unmarried 34-year-old is the child’s father.
