Teacher charged over student’s death in Si Sa Ket

SI SA KET, 16 May 2013 (NNT) – Si Sa Ket police have pressed charges of recklessness causing death against a kindergarten teacher after a three-year-old boy who was left in a pick-up truck for seven hours died.

Ms Ampika Phechnam, the teacher who was in charge of driving students to Uthumphon Witthaya School on the day of the incident, agreed to take full responsibility for the boy’s death. She was summoned to the Uthumphon Phisai police station in Si Sa Ket to hear charges against her.

The kindergarten teacher has promised to initially pay the family of the deceased child 30,000 baht for the funeral. The school’s executives are also considering taking legal action against the teacher.
