19 more Yellow Shirt leaders to be indicted over airport shutdown

BANGKOK, 4 April 2013 (NNT) – Prosecutors have sought to indict 19 additional members of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) in the Criminal Court for the seizure of Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports in 2008.

The 19 who are expected to be charged with terrorism in connection with the airports’ blockade and illegal assembly include Chaemsri Sukchokerat, Montra Chuchuen and Chaiyawat Sinsuwong.

The court has accepted the case and scheduled a hearing on April 29, the same date that PAD leader Sondhi Limthongkul and other core members are set to provide statements to the court. There are altogether 114 people who will face charges relating to illegal assembly, forced restriction to deprive people of the freedom of movement and violation of emergency decree.
