BANGKOK, 4 January 2013 (NNT) – Tropical Storm Sonamu is set to hit the South of Thailand next week, bringing widespread heavy rains and strong winds.
The Meteorological Department warned that Tropical Storm Sonamu, currently centered in the South China Sea, is set to make landfall in Malaysia on January 8. Its entry into the region will bring heavy rains to the Lower South of Thailand, from Nakhon Si Thammarat province downward, during January 7-9.
At the same time, a high-pressure cell from China continues to prevail over the upper parts of Thailand and the South China Sea, causing temperatures to drop across the North and the Northeast of Thailand.
