Insurgents attack teacher protection squads in Narathiwat

NARATHIWAT, 31 January 2013 (NNT) – Violence continued in the South. On Wednesday insurgents staged bomb attacks at three different locations in Narathiwat, killing one soldier.

Inspecting the area bombed by insurgents close to Ban Jud Daeng School in Muang District, local police in Narathiwat found that a truck belonging to a teacher escort unit was hit so hard by the blast that the middle part of the truck was bent into V-shape and the whole vehicle was wrecked. The explosion killed one officer and wounded 2 others. The injured soldiers are now recovering in hospital.

Another explosion occurred in Chanae District but no one was injured. The third bomb hidden in a fruit cart parked in front of Ai Satier School in Cho Airong District went off, injuring one soldier.
