BANGKOK, 15 January 2013 (NNT) – The Department of Energy Business of Thailand is providing car engine modification services for free in a bid to help drivers who have been affected by the discontinuation of Benzene 91 sales since 1 January 2013.
Director-General of the Department of Energy Business Weeraphon Chirapraditkul confirmed on Tuesday that, after the Benzene 91 cancellation policy was implemented, cars that were produced from 1995 onwards and all types of 4-stroke motorcycles totaling around 18 million units as well as 4-stroke agricultural engines could run on gasohol instead.
According to him, cars that rely on benzene and cannot use gasohol are mostly those manufactured before 1995. At present, there are around 470,000 cars, 500,000 2-stroke motorcycles and one million agricultural engines that are incompatible with gasohol.
