RANONG, 4 June 2012 (NNT) – The National Disaster Warning Center has announced that an earthquake, measuring at 4.0 on the Richter scale has struck tambon Ngao in Muang district of Ranong province this afternoon.
Although the epicenter of the quake is 20 kilometers away from the city center, residents in the district could feel the tremors at around 12.49 pm.
Following the tremor, many locals began to pack up their belongings and moved to higher grounds.
Initially, there is no report of any damages or injuries.
The Ranong branch office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has urged members of the public in the area to stay calm and to contact the office for further assistance.
