Heavy rain expected throughout Thailand: National Warning Center

BANGKOK, 16 May 2012 (NNT) – The National Warning Center has issued the latest advice on the possibilities of scattered heavy rain throughout the country during the next couple of days.

The National Warning Center, on Tuesday, issued its first “Heavy Rain in Thailand” warning, dated May 15th, 2012.

The warning stated that high pressure front from China is now covering the upper part of Thailand’s northeastern part, while the southwestern monsoon active in both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is currently getting intensified.

As a result, Thailand is expected to experience more wet weather and also heavy rain in the country’s northern, northeastern and eastern regions as well as the western coast of the South from now until May 18th.

The National Warning Center has asked people residing in areas prone to risk from heavy rain, including flash and wild flood to be extra-careful.

It also warned ships on the western coast of Thailand’s South to be cautious while at sea as high waves in the Andaman Sea can be as tall as 2 meters during this period.
