BANGKOK, 27 April 2012 (NNT) – A tropical storm has hit Nakhon Ratchasima, causing a power transformer to explode and an outage in many areas. Several billboards have collapsed.
A strong tropical storm was reported in Nakhon Ratchasima on Friday. The explosion of a power transformer in the municipality area caused a blackout for half an hour near Chom Surangyat and Suranarai roads. After provincial electricity officials were sent to repair the power transformer, power distribution in the areas has resumed.
According to the Meteorological Department, tropical storms are expected in Thailand, especially the North, the Northeast and the East during 27-28 April 2012. People are warned of thunderstorms, gusts and hails during that period.
