PHUKET, 11 April 2012 (NNT) – This afternoon, a minor tremor was felt in parts of Phuket and neighboring provinces for approximately 1 minute.
Residents, tourists and workers in buildings in Phuket felt the shaking briefly.
Phuket governor, Tri Augkaradacha, has instructed district chiefs of Muang Phuket, Thalang and Kathu, provincial authorities as well as Phuket’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office to inspect town areas for damages.
So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
The governor urged residents to stay tuned to more quake updates from the National Disaster Warning Center (NDWC) and other relevant agencies. For more information, Thais are advised to call the NDWC hotline at 192.
Meanwhile, media reports also suggested that office workers in high-rise buildings in Silom or Sathon areas of Bangkok felt a light tremor at the time of the event.
