BANGKOK, 22 February 2012 (NNT) – The cabinet has given the green light for Thailand to host the World Newspaper Congress and the World Editors Forum in 2013.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Pakdeeharn Himathongkham announced the cabinet’s resolution to accept the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers’ proposal to have Thailand host the World Newspaper Congress and the World Editors Forum in 2013. The meetings, which are held annually, allow over 1,000 executives from the world’s leading media organizations to meet and share their professional experience. It also aims to create a network of cooperation to promote the quality and freedom of the press.
With its headquarters in Paris, France, and Darmstadt, Germany, the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers represents more than 18,000 printed publications, 15,000 online publications and over 3,000 companies in 120 countries. The association’s main objective is to protect and promote the freedom, quality and ethics of the press, as well as support the development of the sector.
