BANGKOK, 8 September 2011 (NNT) – According to the Thai Government Spokesperson, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will be on her tour of ASEAN member countries from 10 to 16 September.
Government Spokesperson Titima Chaisang said Brunei Darussalam will be the first destination of Ms Yingluck’s visit on 10 September.
Ms Titima stated the Premier would thank Brunei as a member of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in helping Thailand solve the southern violence problem. She will also discuss cooperation in agriculture, halal food, energy, and labor.
On 12 September, she will go to Indonesia. As ASEAN Chair, Indonesia has offered to be a mediator in the Thai-Cambodian conflict. During the visit, Ms Yingluck will discuss cooperation in fishery and halal food production, among others.
Thailand’s Prime Minister will visit Cambodia on 15 September before going to Laos the day after.
The Foreign Ministry said Ms Yingluck did not have to visit all nine ASEAN nations before going to visit other countries.
