Stringent security measures were put in place at and around gold shops in Bangkok’s Yaowarat area on Tuesday after gold prices surged to a record high.
Chief of Pubplachai police station Pol Col Rungrote Sayanprasert said the large number of gold shops in the Chinatown area could become targets of criminals.
He had police to increase foot patrol units in the area.
