25 wounded in Narathiwat prison riot

A total of 20 police officers and 5 defence volunteers were injured when inmates at Narathiwat provincial prison hurled wood sticks and stones at them on Saturday morning, reports said.

The 150-men joint police, military and civil forces, led by Narathiwat deputy governor Dejrath Simsiri, were searching for narcotics at the first and second floors of the prisoner’s dormitory inside the prison under an operation to suppress illegal drugs.
