NARATHIWAT, March 13 — A soldier was wounded Sunday after a bomb, suspected to be planted by insurgents, exploded in the trouble-plagued southern province of Narathiwat while national police chief Pol Gen Wichean Potephosree was inspecting a police flat which was damaged by a car bomb last week, police said.
Police said the incident occurred in Chanae district of Narathiwat province when eight soldiers travelling on four motorcycles were patrolling a village and were hit by the bomb hidden inside an iron box weighing about five kilogrammes. Initial investigation found that the bomb was detonated by a remote-controlled cell phone.
