Thai PM: No violence incited during Red Shirts rally so far

BANGKOK, 19 September 2010 (NNT) – The gathering of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) supporters on Sunday remains peaceful while security officers have prepared stringent measures to tackle possible unrest instigation, according to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

Speaking after his weekly TV program “Confidence in Thailand with Prime Minister Abhisit” at the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand this morning, the Prime Minister cited a report by National Police Chief Police General Wichean Potephosree as saying there had been no reports of unrest during the political activities of the UDD so far.

Prime Minister Abhisit remarked that the authorities have prepared both main and backup plans to control movements of the anti-government UDD group carefully, so he believed that no problems and violence would be incited in the kingdom, even in areas without the state of emergency.
