Foreign tourists, expats urged to behave respectfully during the mourning period

Foreign news agencies are offering practical advice for expats and foreign tourists visiting the country during the mourning period following the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

BBC Also said that British officials suggested that British citizens in Thailand should wear black or dark tones in public if possible, and follow the instructions of the authorities. Expats and foreign tourists should abide by local laws and respect Thai customs.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs stated that Australian citizens are urged to avoid actions which could be construed as ‘joyful’, or does not respect the mourning period.

Visitors to Thailand during this period should not expect to experience an atmosphere of entertainment and fun, but to expect disruptions to their normal routine.
