Full moon party boat accident: Speed Boats collision on Koh Samui, Thailand

Reports are coming in about a boat accident in the Gulf of Thailand.

At approximately 22:00 hrs this evening (Thai time), 2 speedboats – each one full of tourists returning from the famous Full Moon Party on the island of Koh Phangan to Koh Samui – collided approximately 5 kilometres off the coast of Koh Phangan.

The famous Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan turns the most easterly point of the island into a huge party for thousands of revellers once a month.

Samui Rescue staff and staff from the three major hospitals on Koh Samui rushed to the Bang Rak pier to transfer the rescued passengers from the rescue boats to the waiting Samui Rescue and hospital ambulances.
